The True Joy In Life

George Bernard Shaw

Just a brief blog that waxes poetic.

George Bernard Shaw believed the “True Joy In Life”  was simply making an effort.  His poem reads:

This is the true joy in life – being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap; being a force of nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.

~George Bernard Shaw

“Be used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one” –  Make it your purpose in life to do something to positively impact the world – big or small.  We should just infuse everything we do with joy, compassion, peace, love and wisdom.  Easy right?  Right!

“Be thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap” – Be productive.  Give it all you got and then a little more.  You don’t have to join the Army, but it sure couldn’t hurt for you to BE ALL YOU CAN BE, could it?

“Be a force of Nature” – Just think about how much impact you could have on the world.   A tornado is a force of nature and it can flatten whole neighborhoods, rip trees from the ground, and kill everything in its path.  You could use YOUR force to feed the hungry, help the homeless, and comfort the sick.  May the ‘force’ be with you."True Joy in Life"

Not be “a feverish selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy” – There are certain people who think that the world revolves around them.  You aren’t one of those people, are you??   Always concerned with themselves.  Never considerate of others.  Always be careful to realize the world around you and how what YOU DO effects it.  Be friendly and kind and others will return the favor.  Smile and the world smiles with you.  All that sort of thing.

See what you can do to find “The True Joy In Life” as Shaw defines it.  I will do the same!
