Local Charities

  1. I nominate Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Habitat for Humanity. We help lower income people purchase a home of their own that they can afford. We give a hand-up, not a hand-out. Besides building or remodeling homes for Habitat partners, we repair homes for low-income home-owners; we help in the community with the SAW Habitat – Burress Community Garden, which provides the residents of the surrounding neighborhoods with fresh vegetables; along with flowers, benches and a picnic area. Habitat participates in a yearly Community Health Fair/ Christmas party for children at the Booker T. Washington Community Center in Staunton, partnering with Toys for Tots and Augusta Health. SAW Habitat lives up to our motto that “We build and restore homes, lives and communities through faith.”
