A Drop In The Bucket

Idiom: "A Drop In The Bucket"

a drop in the bucket –

An insufficient or inconsequential amount in comparison with what is required.

I would assume there are many people out there who choose NOT to donate money to a good cause because they think that their 5 bucks or 100 bucks or even 1000 bucks won’t make a difference in the grand scheme of things.  I want to take this opportunity to show you how very wrong that logic is.

If you were dying of thirst and only had one swallow of water, would you refuse to drink it because it isn’t enough to quench your thirst?  If your baby was learning to walk and fell down, would you refuse to pick him up because you can’t keep him from falling again and again?  If you were given the chance to feed a family that was starving, would you refuse because you couldn’t feed every hungry person in the world??

A little bit can go a long way if you make the choice to give it.  You mustn’t forget that your very existence on this planet allows you to EFFECT the things around you.  The reality of it is, there are more people who NEED than those who will GIVE.  But you can’t let reality dictate your actions or let it keep you from your hopes and dreams.  It was Picasso who said that “everything you can imagine is real,” so why does reality always have to be a negative thing?

Reality is the leading cause of stress amongst those in touch with it.  ~Jane Wagner

Reality bites… and doesn’t let go.  ~Author Unknown

Let’s go ahead and accept reality, but not DWELL on it.  The reality can be changed and each of us has the power to change it.

You may never know what results come of your action, but if you do nothing there will be no result”  – Gandhi
